I recently found a casual diary post from 7 June 2024.

30 days after I resuscitated Mark I am told that he is brain dead and his life support will be switched tomorrow.

Yesterday about 19.00 Jayde alerted me to the fact that Marks smoke alarm was sounding. Instead of ringing the fire service she knocked on my door. By that time the kitchen was full of smoke and it was impossible to see in the room.

The fire service arrived along with several ambulances and a helicopter.

They set up an outside resuscitation area and worked on him for an hour. They came over to me from time to time to ask questions about his health. As they took him away I knew he wasn’t coming back.

Though only a few weeks clean and sober he achieved permanent sobriety.

I later chose not to have contact with his family as my GP warned me that people who perform CPR can develop PTSD.
