Meet Linister. I said I’d never get another dog but then a very special lad came along…
I don’t know why I took this photo. It was Boxing Day and everybody in the street looked sluggish. The mist seemed to be the feeling of the people around me.
Walking past a tatty pet shop one day I spied a tiny kitten through the window. He was in a tiny cage and desperately trying to escape. I went into the shop and boy was he loud! The shop owner asked £65 for him and they got it. I’d have paid more just to get him away from there. They told me he was eight weeks old but his eyes were still blue so I guessed his age as nearer six weeks. His official birthday was declared 1st May 2009.
A few months ago he began displaying signs of dementia and in the past few weeks his behaviour began to endanger him. I decided to let him go while he still had dignity to retain.
He died peacefully on 22 November 2024 after a morning of fish fingers and favourite treats. A long and glorious life well lived.
I love reading in bed but I hate bedside lamps. I clip these onto my headboard and switch all three on. One of them gets attached to the book I’ve got on the go which is wonderful for me.
One of my very tame squirrels sat on the trunk of a tree that succumbed to Ash Die-Back. The sculpture in the background is a Green Man.
We had a very large ragwort grow in the churchyard this summer and one female decided to lay her eggs on it. Within 10 days it had been stripped and the caterpillars were in the ground and becoming chrysalis.

I have some odd things about my home and this partial jawbone complete with teeth is one of my favourites.
I found this by the fence of the deer enclosure in the Ashton Court Estate in Bristol.
